DOVER ELECTRIC BUSES

More than a year after the project's launch, electric buses are finally arriving in Dover. A new road and a new bridge for the £34 million project have been built in Dover.

The Fastrack bus service was launched in November 2024, a year after its scheduled departure. First announced in 2021 for 2023, it was then postponed to 2024.

A spokesperson stated: 'The new Fastrack electric buses for Dover are expected to be shipped from the Volvo factory in Sweden on October 20th, with arrival in the UK anticipated a few days later. The charging infrastructure will be installed around the same time. Although the precise launch date has not yet been set, work is progressing hard, and it is hoped that all tests will be positive and the electric buses will be operational by Christmas.'

KCC states that once the electric buses are operational, the timetable will be expanded, with services running from 5:00 AM to midnight. Currently, the first bus of the day leaves Dover Priory station at 5:50 AM, Monday to Saturday, and the last one, on those days, arrives at Whitfield, near Tesco, at 7:57 PM.

'We will share further updates as the launch proceeds,' the KCC spokesperson added.
