TONNES OF ILLEGAL MEAT SEIZED AT THE PORT OF DOVER

"Tens of tonnes of meat, including several pig heads, have been seized at the Port of Dover. The meat is considered illegal because it circumvents certifications and sanitary controls. Its lack of traceability raises fears that it could carry diseases such as swine fever or foot-and-mouth disease, both of which are devastating for the entire United Kingdom's agriculture.

This is a major problem for the Port of Dover, where significant quantities of meat are being seized, highlighting the lack of adequate facilities and the absence of enforcement powers. In a statement, Efra Chairman Alistair Carmichael declared that the current situation is a crisis that has been brewing for years. A solution must be found quickly; a single case in Germany in 2025 cost 1 billion euros."
