DOVER: UNACCEPTABLE CONDITIONS IN CARE HOME.
Dover House, operated by Dover House (GC) Limited—which provides accommodation with nursing and personal care for the elderly and those living with dementia—has been rated "inadequate" after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) confirmed that residents were living in unacceptable conditions. The CQC stated that floors throughout the building were dirty and sticky, and a strong, lingering smell of urine was present. They added: "We saw residents wearing urine-soaked clothing who had not been supported to use the bathroom. Relatives told us they had raised concerns about the smell and cleanliness for months, yet nothing had changed." A spokesperson for the care home said they are working with the CQC on a new improvement plan. This includes fresh staff training, and the facility is currently under review.
