PUPPY SMUGGLING FROM SLOVAKIA TO DOVER.

Puppy smuggling from Slovakia to Dover.

A Yorkshire Terrier puppy named Elsa was illegally smuggled into Dover. The little dog endured a journey from Slovakia to Dover in extreme conditions on the back seat of a car. Authorities seized the puppy and handed her over to the loving care of Dogs Trust; she has since been found a new family. Her new owner, Lynne Austin, stated: "She has settled in well and doesn’t seem to have any ill effects from that early trauma." She also added: "I burst into tears when I heard about her and saw her." This is not the first time Dogs Trust has had to deal with the issue of puppies brought illegally into England without documents or microchips. In December, the law was also updated to try and tackle this illegal trade. Matt Henning, head of the Animal and Plant Health Agency’s work against puppy smuggling in Dover, stated: "Some of the dogs we intercept can be on death's door."
