UNCLE AND NEPHEW ARRESTED FOR HUMAN SMUGGLING.

Uncle and nephew arrested for human smuggling.

Christopher and Jake Crittenden have been sentenced for illegal immigration offences. The two men admitted to transporting six Vietnamese nationals from Calais to Dover in 2019. At Canterbury Crown Court, Christopher was handed a three-year prison sentence, while Jake received a two-year suspended sentence; the latter must also complete 240 hours of unpaid work and wear an electronic tag for four months. It is believed the pair were part of a much larger criminal network. Patricia Strobino, of the CPS, stated: “Christopher Crittenden breached UK laws and showed no concern for the welfare of the six individuals. When questioned about the risks involved, he laughed off the concerns. “After being caught, he claimed he had gone fishing with his nephew, but the volume of evidence found on his mobile phone—including location data and messages—left both men with no credible option but to plead guilty. I would like to thank Tessa Shroff of 9BR Chambers and the excellent partnership between the CPS and Immigration Enforcement.”
